catching up

Big Daddy...Blogger's issues with pictures has been fixed so I added pictures to the past two blog posts :)

Now that I can add pictures and am back on my blogging game, there are a few fun things we have done in the past couple of weeks I need to catch up on...sweet Bennett turned 3, Love Bug got a much needed haircut and unfortunately an unneeded black eye, her first manicure and we saw the big man in red!

A couple of Fridays ago, I took Love Bug to the nail salon with me and I had her finger nails painted pink.  She did great sitting there with her fingers still...until they were done and then she balled her hands into a fist and smudged half of the nail polish.  Oh well...there was still pink on each nail and she was proud to show it off.

Last Monday after we left The Mayor's OT session, we took Love Bug for a much needed hair cut.  I am so happy baby girl's hair has come in with a vengeance but since she was bald on one side of her head just earlier this year, her hair was becoming quite lopsided.  I wanted the shorter side just snipped a little bit and the other side which was longer to be evened out.  She looks just as a adorable but just a little more even now.  The place I took her is all about pampering the little girls. They actually asked if they could put mousse in her hair...um, no.  She is 2.  So they asked if they could put some glitter spray in her hair.  We asked Love Bug and she said "yes!"  I thought they were going to put a couple of small spritzes in her hair, oh no, they full on glitter bombed my baby.  Her hair and hair bow were covered in shiny glitter.  Then they put a glitter heart on one cheek and a glitter star on the other.  She did look quite adorable.  When we got home, she grabbed the step stool, went into the bathroom and started checking herself out in the mirror.  She started grinning at herself...she liked what she saw!  As cute as she was, she did have to go straight into the bathtub.  There was no way she was going to be able to take a nap with all that glitter...I would have been finding glitter in her crib for months.

this picture doesn't do the amount of glitter in her hair justice...it was crazy

Later that night, we went to Mamie and PopPop's house.  They were invited over to the next door neighbor's house to play on their playset (the little boy who lives there is actually in Love Bug's preschool class).  The playset has a disc swing attached to it (a flat hard plastic disc with a rope in the middle) and The Mayor was swinging it back and forth.  Unfortunately, Love Bug was standing too close and got hit right under her left eye.  Instant black eye.  She still looked adorable though.

This weekend our Bennett turned 3.  Time is flying.  Meega had his party at our favorite bouncy house place and the kids were so excited to go and play and see their cousins.  Bennett was surrounded by family and friends who love him...it was a great day of celebrating.  After the party, The Mayor and Love Bug wanted to go back to Meega's house to watch Bennett open his presents.  The Mayor and Love Bug had a blast helping Bennett break in all his new toys.  We stayed for about an hour and then had to go home...it was a long day and we all needed naps or rest.

The next morning we put on our cutest Christmas outfits and went to see Santa.  We had watched the previous years' DVDs in preparation and the kids were so excited.  I was still a little nervous about Love Bug.  She cried last year and I just wasn't sure what to expect.  She walked right up to him, said "hi Santa" let one of Santa's helpers put her on his lap and talked his ear off.  The Mayor talked to Santa some and then would get shy and look away or cover his face.  They both actually looked at the camera and smiled!  Our first year ever with both kids looking and smiling...actually it's our first year with any kid smiling.  Although The Mayor has never cried with Santa, he usually doesn't smile either. We have turned a corner!

After Santa, we spent the rest of the morning walking around a mall and window shopping.  It was a great day.  It was the first year we didn't bring a stroller, the kids were in great moods and loved just walking around.  We are really loving this stage of life.
