the best kind of cookout...

...is an impromptu cookout.  The weather today was just beyond gorgeous so on the way home from church I decided we needed to invite some of our new favorite people from our Sunday School class over and celebrate this beautiful day and the beginning of Spring Break.

The Mayor was so excited his friends were coming over.  For 2 hours he kept asking when they were coming and when the first guest arrived, The Mayor ran outside to greet him.  The Mayor and Love Bug had a blast with Aiden, Avery and Addy.  They all played great together; they played in the basement for over an hour by themselves with no tears or fighting.  That's impressive!  The men went down into the basement and let the kids run outside in the backyard until dinner was ready.

A dinner of hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, fresh corn on the cob, baked beans and french fries for the kids just makes a perfect dinner.  Ice cream and cookies followed and then more hours of play.  The men and kids went back outside while us ladies sat in the kitchen and chatted.  We eventually decided to join in on the fun and had a blast watching the kids have races, climb the slide and swing on the swings.

Sometime after 8:00 is when everyone started leaving and our filthy kids hopped into the bathtub.  By 8:30, our munchkins were clean and fast asleep.  An hour and half after their regular bedtime...I love this time of year!

there were 2 hot air balloons that floated right next to our house.  The kids thought it was awesome!
