kindergarten roundup part 2

Tonight our neighborhood held a kindergarten roundup in our clubhouse.  It was nice for all the kindergartners in our neighborhood to get to meet each other and find out who was in their class.  The Mayor has 3 other kids from our hood who will be in his class this year.  The kids ate ice cream, took pictures and then had a scavenger hunt of school supplies.  Each kid was to search for 6 different school supplies and then they got to keep what the found!  The Mayor found a folder, a 24 count box of crayons, a 12 pack of colored pencils, a ruler, scissors and a box of erasers.

Today was a low-key Monday.  The kids and I had to do some back-to-school shopping.  I needed to finish shoe shopping for Love Bug and clothes shopping for The Mayor.  Once we were done, we headed home for lunch and then we went to Publix to go grocery shopping.  You can definitely tell it is back-to-school time...the pantry is chock full of snacks and food for school lunches.  After a super fast unload of the groceries, we had to speed across town for The Mayor's OT appointment and then we made it home about 2 minutes before D came home from work.  I made a quick dinner of sauteed tilapia (which The Mayor had two helpings of!!) and corn on the cob and then The Mayor and I had to head to the clubhouse for the kindergarten roundup.

Right at the time we were sitting down for dinner, The Mayor's teacher called.  It was a great conversation and I think we are going to have an amazing year.  We were just going over his IEP and how we wanted to start the year.  We agreed to just let him go a week and try to get a routine and then we would meet again to get his sensory breaks, etc built into his school day.  I am sad to see my boy growing up so quickly but a lot less anxious after talking to her tonight.

Tomorrow night is Open House so The Mayor will actually get to meet his teacher.  I can't wait!
